40-Hour HAZMAT Technician

Prerequisites:

Individuals attending this course are required to have attended a Certified HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FIRST RESPONDER course or the equivalent. This course meets and exceeds the standards set by OSHA 1910.120 (q)(6)(iii), NFPA 472, & EPA requirements.

Objective:

Train the individual to respond to the release or potential release of hazardous materials in order to plug, patch or otherwise stop the release while utilizing specialized chemical protective clothing, control equipment and techniques in an aggressive role.

Format:

Students will participate in interactive lectures and hands-on exercises involving:

  • RECOGNITION & IDENTIFICATION
  • PLACARDING & LABELING
  • AIR MONITORING EQUIPMENT
  • NON-BULK & BULK CONTAINERS

  • CONTAINER REPAIR
  • SPILL CONTAINMENT
  • DIKING & DAMMING
  • CHLORINE KITS (A, B, C)
  • MOTOR CARRIERS
  • RAIL CARS
  • MEDICAL MONITORING
  • INCIDENT COMMAND
  • WEAPONS of MASS DESTRUCTION
